A PE Christmas tree is an artificial Christmas tree whose needles are made from PE (polyethylene), a premium plastic that mirrors the beauty of a real tree: fresh green colour, springy needles and a feel close to the real thing. But a tree sold as a “PE tree” is not always 100% PE! Many are only 30% PE, with the other 70% PVC.
One encouraging sign in the Christmas tree market is that quality keeps rising. Demand for trees made from PE is growing steadily.
We are delighted to see it, because for several years La Maison Chouette has stayed committed to bringing the finest 100% PE trees to the Vietnamese market.
Premium PE Christmas trees: what makes the difference
1. The PE itself – “not all plastics are created equal”
- Premium PE: a fresh, vivid green, supple needles and a touch that feels true to life.
- Ordinary PE: a dull colour and stiff needles, with little life to them.
A small tip: look closely at the colour of the needles and run a branch through your fingers. The difference reveals itself at once.
2. The share of PE in the tree: full PE or PE mixed with PVC?
A tree described as a “PE tree” is not necessarily made from 100% PE. Many contain only 30% PE, the remaining 70% being PVC, yet are still presented as “PE trees”. This is why prices differ so widely from one seller to another.
3. Branch structure and finishing details
A fine tree is judged by:
- The number of branch tips: the more there are, the fuller and more natural the silhouette.
- A wire core that extends to the very tip of each branch, so that every branch can be shaped with ease.
- Premium PE branches: supple, lasting and far more lifelike than their stiff, inexpensive counterparts.
4. Pre-lit PE Christmas trees – a truly “limited” line
These trees are rare, for wrapping each one in lights with such care is work that few workshops can undertake. Only large, highly skilled manufacturers that export to Europe and the United States accept such orders, and only in considerable quantities.
Why choose La Maison Chouette
At La Maison Chouette, we look for more than beauty: we choose trees with a story of their own. Each is modelled on a species of evergreen found in nature.
Their quality is equal to that of the trees displayed in the finest department stores of Europe and the United States. Browse reputable international retailers and you may be surprised to find that a 100% PE tree can command several thousand US dollars.
When passion leads the way
We would hesitate to say that we work “out of passion”, yet without it we could not have come so far. We believe it is this knowledge and devotion that have made La Maison Chouette a pioneer in bringing some of the world’s finest 100% PE trees to Vietnam.
